Who Are we?

Four Oars Rowing club was formed by a small group of enthusiasts to provide competitive and social rowing in the beautiful surroundings of the Thames Estuary. The club is open to anyone interested in getting afloat and enjoying some exercise in a scenic location.

We have a full calendar of events ranging from weekly rows at Two Tree Island to race training sessions in preparation for the year’s competition. Racing is encouraged and our club will participate in local events and Races further afield including the Great River Race in London.

In 2019 our men’s team came first in the Great River Race, winning 5 classes and becoming the UK Traditional Rowing Champions. Our ladies team came 3rd in the European Championships in 2019 and 1st in the Ladies Celtic Class in the Great River Race 2018. In addition, our junior boys team finished 2nd in their class in the Great River Race in 2019.

We plan and arrange rowing expeditions throughout the year exploring the coastal waters around Kent and Essex.

Junior Members are most important to us; we have an active junior membership who take part in races, including the Great River Race. We have regular training sessions which are adapted to suit juniors.
